What makes these gardens unique?

Dementia gardens are first and foremost designed with the users safety in mind. The space must be secure, easily navigated, simple paths with no complex twists and turns and no steps or path materials that may result in instability underfoot.

What plants are used?

Plants are selected not only for their visual aesthetic but also for their sensory impact. We can create areas of the garden that are all about different scents that may trigger memories plus other areas that are about touch, texture and interaction and places to sit and enjoy the rejuvenating calm of the garden.

Why create a dementia garden?

Research indicates that specially designed outdoor spaces can help reduce anxiety and lower blood pressure. They promote mobility and provide opportunity for socialising and connection or privacy and contemplation. This aids in the ongoing healthcare and support of individuals.

Our Work

Dementia gardens designed with care.

We love to know that our work can play a pivotal role in caring for people and that is the joy we work to create and find in every project we undertake.

Taking into account the mental and physical needs of individuals is at the heart of designing dementia gardens.

Whether it is an interactive edible garden, a meditative garden or a sensory garden there are key design principles we use to ensure the garden is a healing experience for all.

Social and garden club programmes.

We help to set up Garden Clubs, promoting engagement and wellness amongst residents.

Garden Clubs are an amazing way for residents to take an active role in curating the environment around them, especially when leaving their own gardens is often one of the toughest adjustments to make when moving into an aged care environment.

We can work with you to create your clubs garden plan and activities throughout the year and provide extra maintenance and support.

It is a pleasure to work closely with those living in the spaces we work to create, to ensure the garden is working and looking beautiful in every season, year after year.
